SHARLTO COPLEY IS CHRISTIAN WALKER, MICHELLE FORBES IS RETRO GIRL IN ‘POWERS’ TV SHOW
Late last week it was announced that Eddie Izzard, Noah Taylor, and Olesya Rulin have joined the cast of Sony’s Powers TV show as Wolfe, Johnny Royale, and Calista, respectively — but that left two major roles unaccounted for in the adaptation of Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming‘s creator-owned superhero detective series.
Now we finally have names for those roles. Sharlto Copley will play the male lead, Detective Christian Walker, while Michelle Forbes will play Retro Girl, the hero whose murder triggers the first Powers storyline in the comics. (The story is called “Who Killed Retro Girl,” so we’re going to say that’s not a spoiler.)
WHAAAAAAAT SHARLTO IS GOING TO BE IN A TV SHOW? ABOUT SUPER POWERS TOO? ON THE PLAYSTATION???
HE IS FINALLY MAKING GOOD DECISIONS IN LIFE, I’M SO HAPPY
So from this post yesterday I decided to do some research and see if I could dig up some more info on this movie Sharlto is supposedly in. Apparently is is call The Hollars which is being directed by and starring John Krasinski, this is the summary:
"John Hollar (John Krasinski), an aspiring NYC artist takes his girlfriend (Anna Kendrick) back to his Middle America hometown on the eve of his mother’s (Margo Martindale) brain surgery. There he’s forced to navigate the crazy life he left behind as his dysfunctional family, high school pals, his father (Richard Jenkins), and his over-eager ex flood back into his life ahead of the operation." We probably wont get an official casting announcement until a few days from now until production starts (July 15th), but I’m glad Sharlto is doing another comedy (after all those dark roles I think he needs it).
By the old gods and the new, please let this be FOR REAL. I never thought I would want desperately to be in Mississippi.
The other actors that were listed the same days/location as him were Charlie Day, Margo Martindale, Anna Kendrick, and Mary Elizabeth Winstead. Color me very intrigued now.
